I’m Not Alone – For Young Readers

The unbelievable miracles.
The hair-raising escapes.
The wild adventures.
But mostly, the incomparable emunah.

Because she knew that … she was never alone.

Cyla is a young girl growing up in Communist Russia, where keeping Torah and mitzvos can land a Jew in prison — or worse. But Cyla is clever. She is courageous. And she has absorbed a powerful lesson from her beloved father: Wherever a Jew goes, Hashem goes with him.

She’ll need every bit of that emunah — and all her quick thinking — to survive as a Jew.

Watch Cyla invent outrageous excuses so she won’t have to attend school on Shabbos. See her help her father secretly teach Torah under the ever-watchful eyes of the Soviet police. Hold your breath as she saves her father from prison and struggles to build a Torah home under a brutal Communist regime.

Then war comes, bringing terrible loss, hunger, and danger. Left alone with two small children, Cyla must somehow find the strength to keep going — and ultimately escape the iron grip of Soviet Russia. Her incredible journeys take her from faraway, forgotten corners of the Soviet Union, to a refugee camp where she meets a most extraordinary woman in a life-changing encounter, to France, Canada and, finally, New York.

Tens of thousands of readers were amazed and inspired by Cyla’s bestselling true story. Now beloved youth author Libby Lazewnik brings Cyla’s unforgettable adventures, courage, and extraordinary emunah to a new generation.

Because Cyla knew, even in the darkest moments: A Yid is never alone.
