“I’m sorry,” I said, wiping my eyes. “I guess I’m just really stressed.”
“No need to apologize,” Mrs. Abrams said, a bit of firmness creeping into her gentle voice. “And you’re not stressed, hon.” Her blue eyes held mine. “You’re grieving.”

Zahava Brody is so ready to get married. But when her chassan breaks their engagement, Zahava is left picking up the shards of the home she hoped to build. She tries her best to move on, to prove to everyone that she’s fine. Because she is. She’s busy tutoring her students, volunteering for Bikur Cholim, helping her grandfather, and doing everything she can to get things back to normal.

But nothing feels truly normal anymore. And grief is not a test she has learned to overcome.
