World War II. As the Nazis approach
Wolomin, a group of chassidim flee to the
forest with their families. They manage to
bring only the barest of necessities with
them, but Rav Shmelke, their beloved Rav,
remembers to take one additional item:
his violin.
A violin?! The chassidim were surprised,
too. But they knew better than to
question their beloved Rav. They soon
discovered just what a crucial part the
violin was to play in their new lives as
partisans living in the forest and carrying
out missions against the Nazis.
